Turning water efficiency into resilience
As cities around the world face mounting pressure from climate change, urbanisation and rising demand, securing a strong, resilient and effective water supply has never been more critical. Reducing urban water losses is one of the fastest and most impactful ways to boost supply reliability for households, communities and economies.
Luckily, solutions already exist. With strategic planning, targeted investments and smart technologies, utilities around the world can take decisive steps to reduce non-revenue water and turn efficiency gains into long-term resilience.
To support this shift, State of Green has launched a new white paper: Reducing urban water losses – Meeting future water demands with holistic non-revenue water planning and intelligent technologies.
Developed in close collaboration with public and private partners across Denmark’s water value chain, the publication shares best practices and concrete tools for reducing water losses - including insights into the Danish approach, which combines strong governance, data-driven decision-making and stakeholder engagement.
From smart metering and pressure management to long-term planning and digital leak detection, the white paper demonstrates how cities can reduce losses while improving utility performance and cutting emissions.
With cases from Denmark and around the world, the publication aims to inspire action across the global water community - because every drop saved strengthens our ability to deliver safe, affordable water for people, industry and nature.
